About Us

Welcome

Run by mother and daughter duo June and Lindsay Homan, JOON is all about wholesome, homemade meals paired with friends, family and fun.

It’s the kind of place where locals come daily, and everybody knows their name. Where kids, feet still sandy from the beach, are always welcome, along with their furry friends.

A place where first dates happen and birthday parties, baby showers and anniversaries are celebrated.

Where poetry evenings, quiz nights and live music connect artists, the community and out-of-town visitors, and annual events draw hundreds of people to creative and quirky Muizenberg village.

Open Tuesday to Sunday, JOON serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily (except Sundays – breakfast and lunch only).

In addition to JOON’s famous thin and crispy-base, Italian-style pizzas and the regular breakfast, lunch and dinner menu, specials are available for lunch and dinner – always fresh, and always homemade.

And of course JOON caters for all: vegans, vegetarians and carnivores.

We do it all

Private events

From birthday parties to baby showers, JOON does it all. With 3 separate sections (front veranda, inside and back courtyard), JOON has the flexibility to cater for small, medium and (fairly) large groups, either as semi-private events in one or two of the restaurant’s sections, or as fully private events across the entire venue.
 

Public events

JOON is the founder and host of the Long Table, an annual event that sees around 100 locals and visitors dine at a single, long table, while making new friends and enjoying live music.

JOON is also the innovator behind the Village Vibes festival; an intimate live music event that sees small groups of festival-goers experience several live music acts in different private houses around Muizenberg Village over two nights. It’s an experience so unique it’s hard to put into words; rather watch the video below to get a feel of this inimitable event.

What started out as the Village Vibes festival soon metamorphosised into a brand name for community events hosted in and around JOON, including regular poetry evenings, quizzes, live music events and the monthly Village Vibes Market.

JOON offers both in- and out-house catering for small-to-medium-sized events, such as weddings, birthdays, baby showers and other special occasions. June and Lindsay work closely with clients to create special menus or buffets according to taste, style and, most importantly, budget.
